What emerged was a picture of expanding filing systems, delays in the sharing of project information and concern over the long term secure storage of documents. IT Director, Phil Andrews comments, “Whilst individual departments may have been happy with their systems, time lapses in distributing documentation were causing real risks on projects. There was no one integrated source of business information which could be accessed by everyone in the company; we recognised that achieving this would bring significant efficiency gains.” Workspace was renamed iGO and has been implemented to Osborne’s 1000 employees to provide them with a single source of business information. One of the biggest benefits of the system has proved to be document control. The distribution of all document is tracked electronically and distributed automatically via email, this has eliminated a huge paper trail that previously existed.
